Admittedly, I don’t listen to much of the Rap Music today but it doesn’t take away from the incredible way that Hip Hop affected the world in just a couple generations. This book is a wholesome way to introduce Hip Hop history and art of not just Rap but all the 5 elements of Hip Hop to children. The story explains the impact and art created by poor kids from the Bronx, New York in the late 1970’s and how it became the Hip Hop business of today in a simple beautifully illustrated way that kids can understand.

Hip Hop History
It’s a Hip Hop Hip Hop World For Every B-Boy and B-Girl: History For Kids (Culture For Kids Book 1) by A.D. Largie
Children’s book about living in the 1978’s in NY and being African American.
Some pages are dark with dark lettering making it almost not viewable. Pictures tell the story also.
Elements of Hip Hop are shown and discussed. Like how they show you how it was introduced to the public and it caught on.
Other works by the author are highlighted at the end.

For the older child
This is a great book full of information for older children. It discusses the realities that no one wants to talk about yet breaks it down so that children can understand. It builds pride in African American culture which is something children need to see and read.

Great illustration, good story topic, but needs a little tweaking
I read the book to my 4 yr old daughter and she enjoyed it but some of the grammatical errors or choices somewhat threw me off. Overall, it was a decent start and I look forward to more works from A.D.

My daughter loved it
My daughter loved this book and was a great discussion starter about the music industry for our daily lessons. My only issue is there were several grammatical errors and typos.

Omg!!! Finally a book for our kids
5 stars…in a world where the vast majority of children’s book are for/about white kids or fail to acknowledge black kids at all, this is a highly welcomed read. I have FOUR little black boys and now I have another go to book I can read with them which allows them to be proud of who they are!! Thank you for this book and please make more!!

Origins of Hip Hop
I loved the illustrations they are so vibrant. The books tells how hip hop started and how it went thru different phases to become what it is today. The story is told simply for a child but in a detailed manner.

Supporting my people!!!
This is not only about supporting my people but I thought the book was cute. I loved all the colors and the wording in the book. It’s such a good thing to see characters that portrays the image you see in your own mirror. Keep up the good work and continue to support black business.

It put a smile on my daughter’s face
I liked how it was a black girl and black boy. I liked there dance moves. I liked how they showed people how to dance and not be afraid.
That was my daughter’s response when she saw the book and after she read it. Thank you for providing diversity in children’s books.

Great topic! Very relevant
I enjoyed the book. It told an engaging story about hip hop history. I did think that certain pages could have been pared down but enjoyed it very much! Look forward to more!
